At St Monica’s, we believe that a rich and meaningful curriculum should inspire children to achieve, thrive and belong.
Our curriculum is carefully designed to provide children with the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to succeed academically, while also preparing them for the next steps in their education and for life beyond primary school. Through a broad range of subjects and experiences, we encourage our children to be curious, creative, resilient and confident learners who understand their place in the world and the contribution they can make to it.
Our curriculum is rooted in our Catholic values and reflects our commitment to developing the whole child – academically, socially, emotionally, morally and spiritually. We want our children to grow in faith, respect and compassion, whilst developing the knowledge and skills they need to flourish.
We are proud to be an inclusive school where every child is valued as an individual. We recognise that children learn in different ways and at different rates, and we adapt our teaching, resources and approaches to ensure that all children can access the curriculum and experience success. We have high expectations for every child and believe that every pupil should have the opportunity to achieve, thrive and feel that they truly belong.
Our subject curriculum documents below provide further information about what your child will learn and the knowledge and skills they will develop as they progress through St Monica’s.
If you would like any further information about our curriculum offer, please contact the school office or speak to your child’s class teacher. We are always happy to discuss your child’s learning and answer any questions you may have.
Our school teaches phonics (the sounds and other basic skills children use from when they start to read) using the scheme Read Write Inc (RWI). For more information on RWI please see:
