Emergency School Closures

including Severe Weather Conditions

While we make every effort to keep the school open, there may be occasions when it is not safe for pupils and staff to be at school, for example in extreme weather conditions or heating failure. When the decision is made to close (before the start of a school day or during the school day) you will need to be aware of the following procedures:

• A message will be broadcast on Three Counties and Heart Radio.
• A message will be displayed on MK Council’s website www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/closures
our own school website www.st-monicas.co.uk and on the Friends of St. Monica’s Facebook page.
• If you have subscribed to the MK Council’s text message alert (Strongly advised), you will receive   a text from them.
• The school gates will be locked and if possible a notice stating that the school is closed will be on    them.

If you hear or see this message, it will not be necessary to contact the school.

Please ensure we have all your up to date telephone numbers so that we can contact you in the event of an emergency.

You can sign up for free text and email alerts on the Milton Keynes Website. Simply log on to www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/closures/subcribe.
